Maya Bash F/W 2017/18
by Jenna Romano | 25.10.17This week, Maya Bash, the avant-garde Tel Avivian designer known and adored for her thought-provoking clothing, will launch her new Fall/Winter collection in Tel Aviv.
Bash’s new collection features a selection of tops, trousers, sweaters, and jackets (minimalistic enough to mix-match) with only a single word imprinted on them, taking fashion’s widespread ‘word-print-everything’ trend beyond the current obsession with slogans and meaningful statements. Bash adds words in a variety of languages that have literal connotations in various languages: cuffs, lining, brooch, etc. Freeing words from their emotional implications, the designer turns them into artistic interpretations of garments, using the universal language of fashion; and letting the intimacy of the clothing and the wearer speak for itself.
“In the process of creating the collection, I inspected the languages that have most influenced my life as a person and designer. Among other fascinating discoveries, I have found that for me Hebrew is the most weighed down by ancient and modern connotations, and took the liberty and pleasure of setting these little words free,” -says Maya Bash.
The launch of the new Maya Bash collection will take place this Friday, October 27th in-store.
Maya Bash Shop, Barzilay 5, Tel Aviv.
