The A-Wa sisters

by Telavivian | 19.08.15

The A-Wa sisters – pronounced Ay-Wa (Arabic for yes!) – Tair, Liron and Tagel Haim, grew up in the small village ’Shaharut’ in southern Israel, not far away from the Egyptian border. As teenagers with an ear to music, they would meet up late in the night in their parents home to record materials in English, Hebrew, and Yemenite – which always had a special place in their hearts.

One day the girls bumped into the song ‘Habib Galbi’ an old Yemenite song that they knew from childhood, which became the band’s first single. During the past two years they have been performing on various festivals and musical scenes around the world and have definitely become the most colorful trio in Tel Aviv. See the A-Wa sisters perform live in Tel Aviv on September 15. Click here for more details.
