The Best Bars

by Telavivian | 26.07.16

Cheers! No matter the season, every Tel Avivian local or visitor needs a good bar  – and there is certainly not a lack in this city. Telavivian will direct you towards the best; with our top picks listed right here so you are guaranteed to find what you’re looking for in terms of drinks, menu selection and ambiance.

A bar and cafe, a record store and music venue: this Jerusalem-founded institution opened a branch in Tel Aviv in 2010, and has been hosting everything from its own label to an exhibition space ever since. Uganda has it’s own independent publishing house, it promotes Israeli electronic music and it serves great beer, what else could you need?

Jajo Vino is an intimate and cozy wine bar in Neve Tzedek, which brought Shabazi St. to life, with its great wine and gorgeous ambience. This is the place to get an exquisite bottle of wine and sit back in the lovely setting of one of Tel Aviv’s most picturesque streets.

Shabazi Street 44.

The place where all the locals hang out, The Peacock, is one of Israel’s original gastro pubs where the food is great and the environment is cool – the perfect place to spend your evening. One of the city’s most prominent bars, Peacock is a real hotspot of Tel Avivian evening gatherings. The combination of good food and the undisputed chilled atmosphere will keep you coming back.

Levontin 7 is the most diverse and independent music venue in Tel Aviv. Downstairs has space for 200 people, while upstairs has an old whiskey bar charm and a tasty vegan pizza. This is the place to go to hear something unique, to sit with an interesting crowd and to mingle with the local music lovers.

A bohemian bar set in the middle of Nachalat Binyamin – one of the most vibrant streets in Tel Aviv. This rooftop is the best place to sip a cocktail amongst the fairy lights while taking in the atmosphere. In the day the sounds and smells of Shuk Hacarmel drift up and in the evening this bar makes it’s own tunes. The food is delicious, the drinks are easy and the rooftop is the definition of Tel Aviv summer fun.

Tepale is an old-school styled bar, lounge and kitchen. The spot caters to locals and foreigners who seek to catch a glimpse of what Israeli lifestyle was and currently is. If backgammon, Arak, Mizrahi music and watermelon is your muse on a Friday, this is a location you will enjoy in Tel Aviv. Tepale has two main spaces, one for indoor dining and an outside patio situated below the monochromatic panorama art found on its exterior.
